For nearly 22 years (1992-2013) he worked at the STUK – Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority in Finland, conducting research on the biological and health effects of non-ionizing radiation. From 2000 – 2013 he was a Research Professor, and from 2003 – 2007 he was the Head of the Radiation Biology Laboratory.

He has held several visiting appointments:

Dr. Leszczynski is an internationally recognized expert in the field of biological and health effects of radiation emitted by wireless communication devices.

In this capacity testified before the US Senate Committee (2009), and the Committee of the Canadian House of Commons (2015).

And, he has also been an advisor to the Minister of Health of India (2014), many organisations, such as US National Academies, Australian ARPANSA, German BfS, Polish Ministry of Digitization, ICNIRP, and others.

In 2011 he was a member of an advisory committee of 30 experts convened by IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer) to review the scientific research in order to determine whether there is any link between exposure to RFEMR (Radio Frequency Electromagnetic Radiation) and cancer.

The report that IARC produced formed the basis of the decision by the WHO (UN World Health Organisation) to classify REFMR as a Class 2B carcinogen in May 2011.
