Mr Brislen speaks to Breakfast host John Campbell on Aug 2nd: https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/new-zealand/new-5g-cellphone-technology-in-no-way-dangerous-expert-says?

Paul Brislen,  a former head of Corporate Communications for Vodafone, runs a public relations firm called Brislen Communications and has been speaking in defense of the  roll-out of fifth generation wireless networks (5G)  amid growing opposition from concerned citizens  throughout New Zealand.

Mr Brislen, who helps to coordinate crisis communications,  develop corporate communications strategies and comment in the media on issues such as the latest tech offerings, [1], is promoting 5G on TV, in print media and audio.

His PR methods have not been without critics though and some opponents of 5G say they are very concerned about his tactics, which undermine the work of many scientists  and are disrespectful of sufferers of wireless-related illnesses.

While emphasizing 5G’s fast connection speeds, which he says open “up a whole new world of possibility”,   Mr Brislen is omitting to mention the real possibility that 5G technology may cause serious health issues.    Offers a sufferer of wireless-related illness, who sold her Auckland property to enable her to escape to a low EMF rural location:  “He seems to think he can get away with saying absolutely anything.”  (In Facebook.com comment, Aug 1).

In a May the 15th Stuff.co.nz article, Mr Brislen intimated that articles raising concerns about 5G were “fake news,” planted by a Russian news agency.

Lis Martinac

And during a news item on Seven Sharp in early-July, about  Lis Martinac’s campaign against 5G in Mangawhai,  he claimed  information she had found on the internet about 5G being a risk to human health had “no basis in fact” and was evidence of a “Russian conspiracy.”   Likewise,  on ITP Tech Blog published on July the 29th, he wrote in:  Fake 5G news grows in vacuum of factual information,’ about the supposed  [sic] “factual inaccuracies glaore”…

In addition, most recently, on August the 2nd, during an interview with John Campbell on TV One’s Breakfast, Mr Brislen said, among other things, that 5G “is non-ionizing radiation…and that the only effect seen “is a slight warming.”   Non-ionizing radiation is well known to have a host of biological effects, also.    According to Dr Martin Pall,   Professor Emeritus of Biochemistry and Basic Medical Sciences at Washington State University, who is an expert in this field: ‘Repeated Wi-Fi studies show that Wi-Fi causes oxidative stress, sperm/testicular damage, neuropsychiatric effects including EEG changes, apoptosis, cellular DNA damage, endocrine changes, and calcium overload.’

John Campbell on dangers of non-ionizing radiation from cell phones during 2006 interview with Dr. George Carlo.

It is not that scientific evidence is lacking and there is no “Russian conspiracy” here.

‘Those Damn Cellphone Radiation Waves’

In late-July, Vivian Chandra interviewed Mr Brislen and a podcast titled: ‘Those damn cellphone radiation waves’  was posted on the Access Granted NZ website, [2]. During this interview, which addressed the matter of the public’s growing concerns about the potential health impacts of 5G, among others, he told Mrs Chandra that he could not label what was occurring as “mass hysteria,” because some people are really badly affected…

Although Mr Brislen did not elaborate, there are a growing number of people reporting that they are sensitive to the type of radiofrequency radiation that is emitted from cell phones and cell phone antennas, who suffer from symptoms such as headaches, insomnia, memory problems, and more serious health problems in association with exposure to this non-ionizing form of radiation.  Electrohypersensitivity (EHS) is increasingly being recognized by health authorities, disability administrators and case workers, politicians, as well as courts of law, worldwide, [3].

In addition, Mr Brislen, seeming to contradict his claim that there is no evidence of a link between health effects and cellphone use, said during the podcast, that his own children do not put cell phones up against their heads. “We also don’t hold them up to the side of our heads at all anymore, if you are my kids. No,” he offered, adding: “It’s all down in front of you and that distance is critical, so if you are worried, step away from it.”

Or even better, why not turn all devices which emit radio-frequency radiation off and use safe corded ethernet internet connections instead? (Pictured below). [Ed note: You will also need to use the control panel in your computer or tablet to turn OFF the wifi and/or bluetooth.]

Although it may not be easy to find, cell phone user manuals provided by cell phone companies, specifically instruct phone owners that their phones should not be held close to the body. If this instruction is not followed, phone users risk being exposed to levels of non-ionizing radiation that are deemed unsafe.

University of Auckland’s psychology department’s Dr Susan Pockett, who should be the expert called on by the media for comment about 5G, as she is independent of the telecommunications industry, has stated that the emissions from cell phones, cell phone antennas and other devices which emit radiofrequency radiation are linked to many health problems, including infertility, diabetes, various kinds of cancer and psychiatric disorders.   Dr Pockett told Stuff.co.nz in May that present levels of exposure to radiofrequency radiation are already bad, so adding 5G will greatly increase the amount of harmful radiation the public is being exposed to, [4].

Supporting Dr Pockett, according to an international petition, which as at August the 2nd, 2019, 141,911 people and organizations from at least 199 countries had signed, of whom many hundreds are scientists, 5G technology will “massively” increase the general population’s exposure to harmful radiofrequency radiation.

Dr Martin Pall

Also, one to pay heed to is Dr Martin Pall,  Professor Emeritus of Biochemistry and Basic Medical Sciences at Washington State University who wrote in his report titled: 5G: Great risk for EU, U.S. and International Health! Compelling Evidence for Eight Distinct Types of Great Harm Caused by Electromagnetic Field(EMF) Exposures and the Mechanism that Causes Them: “Putting in tens of millions of 5G antennae without a single biological test of safety has got to be about the stupidest idea anyone has had in the history of the world.”

Nevertheless,  5G is first being introduced in December in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown,  without any prior biological safety testing.

The evidence of harm from cell phone and cell phone antenna radiation is anything but virtually non-existent.   There exists an extensive body of scientific evidence of harm to humans and the environment from wireless radiation [5] and this evidence is readily available to access online to those who wish to research the topic.    Remember to consider this evidence of harm when you consider 5G, as those who wish to profit from selling faster movie downloading speeds, do not seem to want to acknowledge it or be held accountable for it.
